My very first Yelp has to go to my favorite Italian restaurant in Erie County in Northeast, PA. So worth the drive if you don't live in the area! My only complaint is I always seem to attempt to eat here on a Monday when they are closed. Every meal I've eaten has been excellent!

I've only ordered to-go. Great Sicilian Pizza - my favorite! The wings aren't consistent. The first time we ordered them they were amazing and became my new favorite in town. The next couple times the were slight disappointing (overcooked or too buttery tasting). Truly is the roots of Italian food in North East, PA. I'll continue to order to-go.

I just love this little place! I love the people that work there and old Italian decorations! The first time I ever ate here I had no idea what to expect but we were so pleasantly surprised it has been bringing us back for years! If you love big portions of Italian food this the place. If you love a great piece of fried fish-again, this is your place. Homemade tiramisu...you get it. The eggplant Parmesan is one of my favorites and the fish is second. The kids love it here and always get the spaghetti.

Our waitress was terrible. She brought out my dish with meatballs and when I told her I didn't want meatballs and sent it back she actually brought out the menu to show me that I was wrong. The menu was unclear and did not look to me as though the dish should have had meatballs on it. She was also generally rude and unhelpful. Our food took forever to come out as well. The salad bar was okay but very simple.

Bova's claims to be an Italian restaurant, and yes the decor does suggest such. The restaurant had a decent ambiance. Yet, the serving staff and dinning guest were reminiscent of a nursing home cafeteria. At thirty, I was most likely the youngest person in the dining room. There was another young person, a girl who came with whom looked to be her grandmother. While possessing a fine selection of soda pop, the wine list was lacking. They offered mostly whites, which is not what I favor, nor do I feel pairs well with Italian. I ended up choosing a Cabernet Sauvignon from a familiar label that for the price, satisfies me. It took me quite awhile to choose my meal. Not because there was so many choices, but because the homely menu seemed more for kids and I had trouble finding something I wanted. My experience thus far led me to believe the establishment was not at all particular about the quality of meat it serves, so I ordered the eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti. Before the meal, they brought dinner rolls and salad. At an Italian restaurant one expects bread sticks, mini baguettes, or a loaf of Italian bread brought to the table, but at Bova's they bring what looks to be store bought rolls. I could not tell how I found their taste, because they were not at all appetizing to me so I declined. The salad, which in Italy is many times served after dinner, looked to have been from one of those bag mixes from the super market, and tasted the same. The croûtons could most likely also be found on the store shelf, but I was hungry and I ate it. Then came the main course. This is when I knew for sure that this place had absolutely no connection with Italy. The spaghetti may have come from a can, including the sauce. The pasta was FAR from al dente - it was mush. The sauce had no desirable flavor. The eggplant was at least edible, and that provided me the evenings subsistence. I ate with four others and no one was happy with their meals. One of my fellow dinners wondered whether her meatball was actually made of meat. The bill came, and it was not large, but considering the quality of the food the meal was over priced. I must say the place looked nice - quaint - and the server was very polite and executed her duties well. Please keep trying Bova's. A profound improvement on the quality of your food (i.e. fresh produce, homemade sauces, and quality meat), and more attention to authenticity (i.e. al dente pasta, actual Italian dishes prepared in the Italian manner, and an updated authentic menu), would welcome me back and warrant and earn the generous rating you enjoy on this site. Full service bar .. Great wine list .. After dinner cordials including Italian coffee, cognacs and if needed they have 12 packs of beer to go! Now on to the eatables....the menu sports a variety appetizers, salads, deli sandwiches, fried fish, roastbeef and meatball sandwiches, multiple Italian dinner plates, calzones and pizza.... all homemade. The charm is the style of an old home converted to a Italian restaurant. Service was great, all were super friendly. Get off the highway, take a small detour and stop here at Bova's....you will be pleased!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
